# Why do we need to publish the template after changes?

The update will only apply to the item created on the project after the publication.

In case you made a mistake on the version of the draft, you may [Rollback](https://docs.rdrive.io/setup/company/categories/categories-template-setup-knowledge-base/what-happens-when-i-use-rollback) to the previous version for a fresh start.
